Specializations
Employee participation law

Employee participation law

The Employee participation section of De Voort is among the main providers of legal services in this field of law in the Netherlands. We advise and support employee participation entities, but also management boards that need to address participation questions, both in the private and public sector. We do not merely focus on legal aspects, but also look into strategy and process related matters. We regularly work together with other disciplines, for instance with organisation consultants, trainers and tax experts.

We provide support during for instance advice projects, develop participation structures, draw up company contracts and draw up or check redundancy plans. If the case requires, we also litigate. In addition to that we provide advice in the field of pensions (participants' councils), support participation councils (education) and client councils (health care). The principle is: direct lines and clear, practical advice.

In this field of law we are a leading authority in the Netherlands. We share this expertise by means of many publications in professional journals, by conducting lectures and writing books (including the authoritative book "Wet op de Ondernemingsraden" (published by Paris) and publications in the "Inzicht"-serial).

Labour law

Labour law

Practically all entrepreneurs have employees, and therefore, labour law is relevant to them. Conversely, labour law also applies to almost anyone working under an employment contract. We have highly specialised solicitors in all matters concerning labour law.

In this field of law we are the leading specialist in the region. We provide assistance in matters concerning dismissals, issues with competition, but also in drawing up contracts and support and development in the broad field of the employment contract. In addition to that we advise and provide support in case of organisations and reorganisations.

A special area of labour law is civil servants law, another field we expressly focus on. And we are solicitors of various educational institutions, both public and denominational education, in the field of educational law.

When disputes between employer and employee with respect to disability or other issues can be solved by means of dialogue, we initiate and provide support for these discussions, either as solicitors or as mediators.

Sports and law

Sports and law

Disciplinary law, association law, liability, sponsor contracts and athlete transfers. As one of only a few law firms in the Netherlands De Voort has an interdisciplinary branch group. All matters involving sports are addressed by the branch group.

We know every detail of the legal aspects, but also take into account the culture of sports (organisations). In addition to legal expertise the members of this section also have an affinity for sports. Most members are active in (international) sports and sports support organisations. In addition to that the section is often involved in promoting and developing this field of expertise. The section actively contributes to the scientific "Sport en Recht" journal, provides training and issues publications. The branch group is leading in its field of expertise.

The branch group is the contact point for the Sport en Gemeenten Association for the South of the Netherlands.

Mediation

Mediation

Disputes can be settled in court, but it is also possible to resolve them by mutual consultation, keeping good relations intact. Mediation is a specific specialism and is the perfect means to do so. That applies to enterprises, government entities, institutions and private individuals, in case of labour disputes and in cases concerning family law. And in the event of imminent disputes a mediator can proactively help prevent escalation, and facilitate constructive consultation. Mediation can also provide a solution in case disability is caused by communication problems or misunderstandings. The mediators of De Voort regularly and successfully assist parties in resolving their problems.
